{thanksgiving} day one: His Mercies

I’ve been excited for a few weeks now for November to roll around (for various reasons).  One of the reasons: it’s a month of thanksgiving.
So, what am I thankful for on the first day of this month?  A few friends have mentioned specifically that my spunk is back.  It’s hard to put into words what that does for me, but it’s a pretty big boost.  I think my spunk is back.
With that being said – I am so thankful for God’s goodness and His ability to meet us where we are and give us what we need for each day (thanks for praying that, Celia!).  His mercies are new every morning has never been more true.
I think this version of Lamentations 3:19-24 is pretty neat (the Message):
“I’ll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes, the poison I’ve swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember— the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there’s one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.”
