I wish I could say I see spring everywhere, but not quite yet. It will still be a few weeks. I do see a receding snow line – each day shows more and more of the brown grass that has been hiding for the winter. And lots of puddles for jumping in.
I think it is the hope of spring that puts a little JOY in my heart today. I do not hate winter – but I always love the start of any new season. I love it. I love what it represents. It never gets old to me – whether it’s new bright green sprouts on a branch, leaves turning colors, flowers blooming or the first snow – I love each change.
Whenever I think of the seasons changing I think of the following song.
Every Season by Nichole Nordeman
“…And everything that’s new has bravely surfaced
Teaching us to breathe
What was frozen through is newly purposed
Turning all things green
So it is with You
And how You make me new
With every season’s change
And so it will be
As You are re-creating me
Summer, autumn, winter, spring”
Stuff I’m looking forward to this Spring:
• I can’t wait to see the bulbs we planted last year emerge from the soil – even if they don’t bloom – I’m excited to see how many will come up this year.
•I am looking forward to putting away winter gear – hats, gloves, coats, big sweaters, & boots. (It might be awhile, but still….)
•the start of our local Farmers Market
•planning the Summer!
•being outside with the sun on my face
