Lena and I reconnected about 3 years ago via Myspace. We hadn’t seen each other since the day I graduated from high school in 1999. Lena and I went to grade school together – our families were good friends. I happened to find her three weeks before she was getting married. I was so excited to learn that she lived only about 3.5 hours away. My mom and I got to attend her wedding – it was so surreal and special to get to join in her day.
Lena (and family) spent Friday night at our house. They drove up from south of Missoula.
Yesterday morning as I was scrambling to get out the door (and couldn’t find my keys!) Lena called and mentioned they were thinking of coming up for a visit. I was so pleasantly surprised and couldn’t have been more excited for the opportunity to catch up in person. We’ve seen each other three times since we reconnected, but all of those times have been crazy and chaotic – not really a chance to catch up and reminisce.
Six weeks ago – just before Christmas – Lena had a baby girl, Alexia. We got to meet her this weekend – much earlier than I thought I would get to! She is beautiful. I say this often, but I love a fresh baby.
I’m so glad that Lena & family drove up for a visit! It was such a sweet time swapping stories and (trying) remembering lots of fun memories! And I especially loved the snuggles with sweet Alexia.
Thanks again, Al & Lena! Hope to see you very soon.
