Graduating

I just got home from my last water physical therapy session.  I started in late December.  On Monday I will start going to the therapy pool (heated, salt water pool) all by my grown-up self. It’s in the same pool as before, so I can still ask the therapists questions if I need to, but I will be doing the program by my self and on my own time table.

In the past three months I have:
– gained strength in my right arm
– my balance has improved (first time in 15 years!)
– more endurance.
– Praise the Lord!
Years ago I was told (by a PT) that I would never gain or increase strength or endurance, so I am very pleased. Today my PT told me that I should expect to continue improving over the next year and then plateau.  He said I could possibly improve by as much as 30% – never 100% – but that was never my goal anyway.  To me, 30% is 30% more than I ever anticipated or expected. He also told me that if I don’t keep up the schedule I will lose strength, etc.  It’s good to have that reminder – especially on the days when I do not want to make the effort to go.
But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. Psalm 73:28
